This book describes different types of rubber-pad forming processes currently being studied for their experimental and numerical advantages and disadvantages. Rubber forming adopts a rubber pad contained in a rigid box in which one of the tools (die or punch) is replaced by the rubber pad. Up to 60% of all sheet metal parts in aircraft industry such as frames, seat parts, ribs, windows and doors are fabricated using rubber-pad forming processes. Key process parameters such as rubber material, stamping velocity, rubber-pad hardness and thickness and friction conditions are investigated.

The Porgera gold mine in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea is technically one of the most sophisticated and successful mines of recent times. In its second year of operations (1992) it was the third largest gold producing mine in the world. Socially, though, the mine has brought a range of massive changes for the local Ipili community-both positive and negative. Dilemmas of Development is a record of a series of studies of the social and economic effects of the Porgerta mine, commissioned by the Porgera Joint Vemture (PJV).

The Selected Issues paper discusses measures taken by the Chilean government to record moderate economic growth in 2012. The easing of fiscal stance and tightening of expenditure have proved to prevent a decline in the economy. The authorities have estimated retaining a favorable economic environment to mitigate financial risks. Banks have been asked to maintain high levels of liquidity and capital to meet expansion needs. The Executive Board has commended Chilean authorities’ efforts for macrofinancial stability and management of funds.
